Why Boys are the Best

So being a mother of three boys, I've thought a lot about what it means to have boys. And I've come to decide that there are a lot of great things which come from being a mother of only boys. For instance . . .
In Kyler's costume he has to wear tights . . . I am so glad that I have boys where I don't have to put tights on them every Sunday! Goodnight, who came up with tights small enough for children? Whew it's a work out just getting them on them. So plus number one, they can go tight-less.
In Preschool there are not very many boys, in nursery there aren't very many boys. Every time I go to these places I'm reminded how great it is that I just have to brush my boys hair and ta-da they are done! No curlers, no elastics, no screaming. Ahh the joys of boys hair!!
Plus number three, when Mom has nervous breakdown, boys don't remember it 30 seconds later. And when I apologize for my breakdown "Oh that's o-tay mom!" Thank goodness I wont have to pay millions in therapy for the emotional baggage they might carry around if they were girls.
Since I am breastfeeding Isaac I've gotten a lot of time to watch my boys. The other day I watched as Kyler started to lead Eldon to the bottom of the stairs. "Come here Eldon, sit right here." I then watched as he proceeded to climb up four stairs. "Alright, I'm going to jump over you." Yeah for boys and their games! Don't worry I intervened before any jumping took place.
Another great thing, when asking Kyler what he wants to be when he grows up he responds "A missionary! And Batman." Trains, dinosaurs, wrestling, cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles, bikes, jumping off things, and helmets are a major part of every day in our house.
When you make hot dogs for dinner, you are the best person in the world! And you get comments like "Mom you're my best friend!" Without so many boys I never would have known the power of a hot dog!
Yeah having boys is pretty darn great! Nothing compares to the joys of hearing them laughing together. And even though they don't get along all the time they are still great friends! I've started to think a lot of how I want them to truly like each other. I've often wonder how Lucy Mack Smith did it, how do you get sibilings to have such a great relationship as Hyrum and Joseph did? Any thoughts?? Anyways the basis of this post, is yeah I'm pretty darn lucky!

For Michelle

So one of my best friends is Michelle. Michelle moved into my apartment in Rexburg half way through the school year. We immediately hit it off and have become so close. One thing about Michelle is that she loves, loves, loves the sitcom Friends. And even three loves, doesn't give her feelings about the show justice. She has decided to try to make her dream of meeting one of the actors from the show come true, by posting a poll on her blog. Her hopes is that enough people will vote that she can get a hold of Ellen Degeneres and get her to arrange a meeting with one of them. So for me, or for her, will you please go to her blog and vote? http://thebluemels.blogspot.com/

Blessings

We were able to bless Isaac two days ago. It was such a great day and you couldn't ask for a better baby!! He was happy all day long and even slept fabulously long that night!! There is just something so powerful in watching and listening to your husband use the mighty priesthood to bless your child. I got emotional as I watched him carry Isaac up and be surrounded by men that mean so very much to us.
Our Family!!
My Men! Have you ever seen such four great looking guys together in one place?
Travis and his folks.

Me and my amazing parents!! I love them and of course loved having them here! I still can't believe that these are mine! I'm a mother of three boys! Blows me away!

Travis' sister Tavia was able to drive down from Rexburg with her two boys to come to the blessing. Sadly David, her hubby was sick and couldn't make the drive. But we loved having more family here!!

Brennan and Junior came and Kyler was so excited to have them here. He called them simply "Cousins". It was very sad that they couldn't stay longer but we loved having them here for the blessing!
My Mother-in-Law came on Oct. 7th and was able to stay until the day after the blessing, when she flew home with Father-in-Law. It was so, so, so great to have her here. I know that I've said it a million times but I am so lucky when it comes to in-laws. They are all wonderful! And I truly enjoyed the time that we were able to spend together.
After we picked Vicki up at the airport we spent the day in Salt Lake, doing some shopping, getting Isaac's pictures done, and then going to Gardner's Village where these hilarious witches can be seen. It was so fun!!
Eldon and Grandma before church. Eldon of course is doing his usual smile!
Grandma and Kyler went on walks everyday, just the two of them. Kyler loved it and will greatly miss the one on one time with Grandma!
We went to the Kilns after Grandpa came here. Of course like Father like Son, they had to try to climb the Kiln. Travis was really proud to reach the top, I was really proud that he didn't die.

One thing that I love, love, love about my in-laws is how in love they still are. We loved having them here and can't wait for them to visit again . . . whenever that may be. We probably wont get both of them here again until we have another baby . . . 2012, I guess is when we'll see them again :)

More of Us

I thought I'd post more pictures of our boys. I don't really have anything new to report but thought you might want to see more of us! So hope you enjoy some more of the Hogmans!!

Kyler

I can tell that Kyler is starting to get a little jealous because he's been acting out a little lately. You know the push-your-brother-have-even-more-accidents kind of acting out. But he's still so sweet and will come in and hug Isaac in the morning and tell him how much he missed him during the night.
Eldon
Eldon is just a sweet heart. These pics were taken on a day when I decided to bath all three boys in one night while Travis was at Young Men's. Eldon was so excited to get in he nose dived in while Kyler was in there. Eldon is my hugger and just loves hugging Isaac. The other day he couldn't reach all of Isaac and so we came in to find him holding and hugging Isaac's hand. It was adorable!!
Isaac

Isaac is just so fun. Of course he sleeps a lot but he's starting to be awake more often. We are so excited to see what his personality is going to be like.

We love having three boys . . . yes I do love that they are all boys! But I keep asking Isaac who in our family is left up there . . . I'm pretty sure he's communicated that there is a girl up there. (Mostly because I said "If you have a sister up there fall asleep." And he did, so that has to be a sign right?)

Living with Three Boys

So we are still alive here in Evanston Wyoming, never fear! Life has been hectic but great. We've adjusted pretty well here with three little boys but of course we've had a lot of help with parents and friends so technically we haven't been alone for too long!

Isaac is a great little lad! He, of course, has acid reflux. I shouldn't be surprised! All of our boys have been blessed with this! How would that be to have a baby that just spit up every now and then?? I mean what do mothers do with themselves when they don't have to change themselves and baby every twenty minutes from milk pouring out of every facial opening? But besides that he is perfect!! He eats literally every three hours on the nose, he is very punctual! At his two week check up he had gained almost a full pound and is looking great! He doesn't cry very often and is just a clam, sweet little man. The best thing we've discovered about him this week is he has DIMPLES!! We've not captured them in a picture yet but as soon as we do we'll post it.

Kyler likes him and wants to hold him constantly. Eldon thinks he's the funniest thing ever and wants to pick his nose all the time. I must get sentimental. Travis loosing his job has been a blessing in disguise. He has been here helping since day one. Honestly the thought of him going back to work terrifies me! I've had him here the whole time to adjust so I might go mad when I'm all alone with the three boys! He is such a great helper and I don't know what I'd do with out him. Also we have been so blessed. We have opened our doors to meals on the front porch or people just randomly stopping by and giving us things. Or envelops with no return name on them presented to us! I just am amazed at the generosity of our ward and the knowledge that God is mindful of us and sending us blessings from our efforts of living righteously. Also bodies are amazing! Who would have guessed that two and a half weeks ago I had given birth! I'm up and doing all the things that I did before. I feel great! And I even fit into my pre-pregnancy pants! Yeah that was pretty exciting! We are just so blessed I can't believe it!
So everyone, the church is true, God is mindful of us, and families are eternal! Life is Grand!!

The Hogman's Video

I hope this video works. I made it with the intent to show just Isaac but then realized we didn't have enough pictures to show for a full song so I included the whole family... What do you think?
