Even more Eldon #3

First visitors. Mom and Dad came and watched Kyler while we were at the hospital.

Grandma Porter with Eldon! I think she likes him!
Grandpa Porter with Eldon and trying to reign in Kyler.
My three boys!
Brothers! I don't think that Kyler really knows how he feels about Eldon . . . but he is sweet to rub his head when he cries and say "Okay." I hope they can be buds!

Even more Eldon #2

Dedicated to the wonderful nurses and doctors who made this wonderful experience possible! We had such a great experience at the hospital.

Dr. Ching our Pediatrician who is fabulous!! We like her a lot!

Jessica who was the Nursery Nurse. She stayed with us for the first day.

Stephanie the Nurse who got us started with everything. She had to leave before the baby was born but she came and visited us the next day to see the results!

Dr. Hansen our OB. He was wonderful! We really appreciate him and how comfortable he made us.
Beth our last nurse who checked us out! Also a shout out to Connie, Ellie, and Debbie who are not documented but helped out so much!! We were so blessed with great people to help and make our stay so comfortable.

Even more Eldon #1

Sorry but this is mostly for family that is far away and doesn't mind seeing so many pictures. If you are sick of them you don't have to look I promise!

The complete Hogman Family!!

Eldon's Debut!

Here is just a short two minute video clip of Eldon. It might take a minute to download but we hope you take the time to watch it, because he's pretty darn cute and we wanted to share with you some of his special first moments.

The Newest Hogman

Sorry that we weren't able to update as the day progressed yesterday. After the first post we lost internet connection though we continued trying the rest of the day. So here are the stats and info of our newest family member!!

Went in to be induced at 5:00 a.m.

Started Pitocen at 6:00 a.m.

Water broken at 8:30 a.m.

Epidural given at 9:40 a.m.

10:25 nurse came to check and I informed her, very calmly of course, that the epidural was only working on one side. As she started to put on her glove I very earnestly said "I think I need to push now!!"

10:29 Doctor arrived

10:41 Eldon was born!

He wieghs 7 lbs 3 ozs and is 18 inches long. He is black hair, dark dark eyes, looks exactly like Travis, and when he starts crying he sounds like a mouse!!

APGAR Scale was a 7 at 1 min, 9 at 5 min, 10 ever since.

Result: Healthy "Angel Baby" (as one of the doctors kept refering to him as)

Here we go...

Here we are in the hospital getting prepared for baby Eldon. I don't know how much I'll be able to get uploaded online but I'll try to keep semi-current with the news. These next couple of posts are going to be mainly for the family who can't be here... We miss and love you all! Wish us luck!
Jenni is currently dialated to a 3.5 or 4 and had 4or 5 natural contractions about 3 or 5 minutes apart. Now that she is getting about 6 ml of Pitocin an hour she is having regular contractions about 3 minutes apart. She is not in pain yet, just starting the process. Yeah look at the clock behind her (5:25 am) we are hoping for a baby sometime before 12 today. We'll let you know. Keep posted!

2 Plus Weeks and Another Blow to the Head

Well the time is clicking down and thankfully we are almost there to meeting Eldon! The past doctors appointments have informed us that things have already started in motion and it could be any time in the next few weeks. We are so excited to welcome our new addition! But we've also been trying to savor the time we have left with our one little man. Kyler is so great. As we were reading stories today he leaned over and put his arm around my neck and reached up and gave me a kiss. It was so tender! I love how sweet and thoughtful he is! I'm not quite sure how the dynamics are going to change once we bring Eldon home, but I hope Kyler will always know that we love him and how much he means to us!
Also just a few days ago Travis was working on a project at work when something snapped and hit him in the head. It just seems like he is a magnet for head injuries lately. Thank goodness this was no big deal but how bizarre to have two head injuries in a matter of weeks. (The red mark is where it hit)

The Phone Call

While at my parents house on Thursday I got a phone call around 10:oo at night. "Jenni, this is Niel (Travis' boss). Travis got a head injury and wont agree to go the ER. Can you talk to him and try to convince him?" Oh my heck! Visions of blood, scars, death ran through my mind. Thank goodness none of those were involved. Travis and another player collided while diving to get a ball during their softball game. The game ended soon after the accident and Travis looked at Niel and said "I don't know where I live, do you?" Niel brought him home and stayed with him for a while trying to get him to go to the hospital. My Dad and I drove up there and got to him at 12:30 and he kindly and quickly agreed to go the hospital. They took some pictures and only found a little blood on the brain. But he couldn't remember the year or month. When asked who the President was he said "I want to say Clinton . .. but man I should know this because I'm really into politics . . . Bush?" Travis asked the same three questions over and over again "How is the other guy I hit into?" (asked only after the accident was described again), "Did we win the game?" and "Did I make any good plays?" He still can't remember a lot of details about the last three weeks but he's getting better and the short term memory is back. I tried to convince him that he agreed during that time to buy me a couch and go on a trip to Hawaii but I think he's caught on.
During the whole experience I remained pretty calm for some reason I knew that he was going to be alright. But there was a time when I realized how dreadful the experience could have been and how much worse it could have been. I love Travis so much and am so grateful to have him in my life. And how lucky to be married to a man who lives as he should and can be so blessed like that.

Other Fun Utah Adventures!

After Lagoon Kyler and I stayed with my parents for a few days! We had so much fun going to the zoo! Kyler loved playing with Uncle Steve and shouting "Faster! Go! Faster!" Uncle Steve was loving it!

Me at the zoo with the other Rhino's! No but only 3 and a half weeks left! Yahoo!!

Grandma Porter feeding the animal!

We got to go the airport and see our friend Shawn come home from Air Force Training. Kyler loved the experience . . .including running through security and having them close down to catch him . . . yeah I loved that part to! Talk about embarrassing!

Kyler loved going outside and playing in the gigantic, beautiful backyard of my parents. He loved spending time with Grandpa and blowing bubbles and running around!
\

Kyler on a Whale!

Here is Kyler on his first ride. When he first got on it he looked at me and did a nervous laugh and said "All done!" But then the ride started and he was fine. He had a strained smile and it took all his strength to let go and wave during the ride, but it was cute! It was the one ride that he didn't ask to go on again!

Lagoon Trip

My father got to chaperone the 9th graders to Lagoon this year and the school had extra tickets so my Mom, Travis, Kyler, and I got to come along! It was so much fun! Though I was sad that I couldn't go on any of the rides. It was Kyler's first experience on real rides. Though he wouldn't smile at all, he always wanted to ride them again!

This was Kyler's jumbo corndog! He loved it! But seriously look at the size of it! It was crazy!

It was so much fun to go and just play for the day! And we also enjoyed some time in the pool, yep even I got in . . . sorry no pictures of that! It was a great day!!!
