If You could Talk to the Animals

So it was our county fair this week! We were so excited to experience our local fair! Travis comes from Washington where the fair is big and fabulous! And I come from West Valley were I am used to the Utah State Fair. Our expectations were high . . . let's just say that the three buildings of animals was fun . . .
We started with a fun time with the local hogs. Kyler had to pet them, no matter what end was closest to him.
We then heeded the call of the cows and went over to meet them.
Kyler was so taken with this calf that he thought they could be new roommates.
This is me intervening- much to Kyler's dismay.
And this is how much fun Eldon had with the whole experience.

Of course I had to include one of the converstations Kyler had with the animals. Here he is crowing with the roosters.

Visiting with Family

This weekend we were able to head down to my parents house and spend some time with my brother and his family that were visiting. Jason and Carrie live in Moscow, Idaho and only get the chance about once a year to come down. It was great to have our whole family together to spend some time! Kyler loved his two cousins and Eldon loved being passed around. We had a fun time visiting, going to church together, playing outside, going to the zoo, and playing games. It was wonderful! We love family!
All the Grandkids ready for church; Josh 4, Emily 6, Kyler 2, and Eldon.
The whole family (me taking picture), ready for the bird show at Hogle Zoo!
Emily, Josh, and Kyler in front of the giant Ape at the zoo.
Grandma, Kyler, Grandpa, and Josh on the Zoo Train. Both boys love trains and were very excited for this part of the zoo experience.

Josh and Kyler playing on the swing set in my parents back yard, and having a really good time.

Painting and Misplaced!

Well after reading the comments to my last post (thanks for the insight and also the votes of confidence!) I decided that even though I had been having one on one time with Kyler perhaps I should be doing some new things for those times. I had read an idea that I decided to try out and it worked great! I recommend it to anyone with children who needs to wash their window or glass doors anyways. Take finger paint, bucket of soapy water, and a sponge and this equals a really good time. We finger painted on our sliding glass door and then got to sponge it off! It was soooo much fun and Kyler had a great time painting as well as cleaning. Not to mention he got clean as he cleaned. So much fun!!
Eldon while we played . . . Kyler gave him a ball to play with just in case he woke up (which as you can tell by the picture he did!)

There are no pictures to document this story (thank goodness!) But yesterday I misplaced Kyler! As I was with baby I noticed I hadn't heard from him for a while. So I ran downstairs- nope, upstairs- nope, kitchen- nope, bathroom- nope but curiously there was a diaper on the floor! Then I looked up and realized he must have gone outside. So I ran outside he was no where in the back, no where on the side of the complex, and then . . . there he was in all his splendor playing with someone elses ball by our cars in the parking lot sporting nothing but his shirt!! I was mortified! Needless to say our backdoor will remained shut and locked no matter how hot it gets!!

Failing Parenting 101

Alright so . . . I have a two year old that has all of a sudden become a fit-throwin'-hittin'-yellin'-"no!" little . . . ahem . . . angel. Time outs are no longer working, sending him for some alone time in his room is no longer working . . . any ideas!!! I know that things are new for him right now and he's testing his limits but I've got to be firm, but nothing seems to be working. So if there is any jewels of wisdom, any tidbit of information that has worked for you or worked on you when you were a kid, I would really appreciate it because I really feel like I am failing here!!

Sleeping at the Hogman House

With the addition of a new family member our regular schedule has been thrown for a little bit of a loop. I'm not complaining! I probably have the best sleeping newborn in the world. We get up only one time every night with him and have had only one sleepless night to date (knock on wood, now that I've admitted our luck Eldon will probably never sleep again!!). But the demands of a two year old and a newborn has been more rewarding and more exhausting then we could ever have imagined! And we love it! I thought you'd like to see how we all have handled the situation:

Grandma Porter taking a much deserved rest with Eldon. Thanks again Mom for coming up and taking care of us!!

Kyler and Travis having some quality time together.

Travis giving Eldon just as much quality time as Kyler.

Eldon taking a snooze . . . it is very hard being a new born after all! (Also one of my favorite pictures of him!)

Eldon's Birth Announcement

We would love to send you all a birth announcement we just made. If you would like to receive one please either leave a comment with your address or e-mail it to Jenni. I'll post it here as well for those of you who can't wait to see it!

Happy 4th of July!!

Contributing to the local firework display!

It was so great to have the 4th of July, not pregnant!! We had a great and relaxful day. We went over to Hamblin Park where they had activities for all ages.

Kyler on the barrel train. He had to ride it twice.
They had a little barrel train and Kyler loved riding on it!

The whole family!! Aren't all three of my boys so cute??
They also did a candy cannon that Kyler was all over! Then at home we made yummy home made ice cream! Wow I use a lot of exclamation points . . .

Kyler and Eldon . . . yeah Kyler still isn't too sure about him.
And then out to the baseball fields we went to watch and do fireworks. Fireworks here are amazing because they aren't illegal! I've never experienced fireworks all around me before. And they weren't miles away they were literally right in front of us. It was amazing and very, very, very loud!! It was great to get out of the house even for a little bit!
