Advice

Alright so . . . I just need some advice on what to do about my dear beloved Eldon. He's great! But lately he is very clingy . . . very clingy. He refuses to go to nursery or the day care where I work. When I drop him off it results in blood curtling screams and crying so hard he is gagging himself.

So with that said I realize the following may be the reasons-
~a stage
~he senses that a change is coming
~his age
~and so on

I realize all of these things so what I am wondering is if any of you have had the same problem and how you dealt with it. Is it best just to let him cry it out? Do I try to take him and then after spending 15-20 minutes with him leave? Or should I just resort to leaving him like this all of the time?
Just any advice or even saying that you have dealt with a child that has done this too, will make me feel better.

Our Isaac

Isaac Stats:
Weight: 25 lbs
Eye Color: Brown
Hair: Auburn
Allergies: Eggs
Nick Name: Caveman
If Isaac Could Speak:
Favorite Color: Blue
Favorite Person: Mama and Kyler
Favorite Thing to Eat: Oatmeal and Green Beans . . .not together
Favorite Thing to Drink:Milk
Favorite Toy: Anyones cell phone

Things that I love about Isaac:
~When he smiles his whole face scrunches up and his eyes disappear.
~He likes to climb up on the chair and turns the lights off and on.

~He always gives toys that he knows someone else wants . . .either that or Eldon has attacked him so many times he realizes that it's easier.
~Isaac loves to get thrown around and get in the action of wrestling.

~He loves to color! He is the happiest when he has a crayon in his hand and paper to color on. Or when Eldon gives him lipstick and he can color on himself . . .he thinks that is fun too.
~Isaac is a thumb sucker but it has to be his left thumb.
~He is the happiest little guy ever except he has a temper. If things don't go his way or he wants something that his brothers have, watch out! He lashes out! He's like a little leprachaun.
~Isaac carries the bathroom stools around so that he can always have access to the things he wants to reach.

~The best word to describe Isaac is Moose. I love to watch his fat legs walking around! He's just a big kid. Poor Eldon better beef up or Isaac is going to pass him up!
Isaac is a joy. That is just the best way to describe him. It has been so fun to have him join our family. I feel so lucky to have him. I was sooo worried about how life was going to change when we had him, and it was hard having two sooo very close together. But it's funny how the Lord knows us and our situations. Isaac was just what our family needed.

Eldon

If you are new to this let me explain. I'm just highlighting each of my boys- giving them their each post to truly tell about them. This is more for me then anyone but I would love you to read and get to know them. Because they are the bees knees, for sure!

Eldon Stats:
Weight- 27 lbs
Eye Color- Brown
Hair Color- Brown and it is always sticking up
Nick Name- Bug-a-boo or Bubs

Eldon Answers:
Favorite Color- Pink, Green, and Red
Favorite Animal-Monster
Favorite thing to Eat- Food
Favorite Movie-Darkwing Duck
Favorite Thing to Do-Play and Dance
Favorite Toy- Beep Beeps (aka cars)
Best Friend- Kyler, baby, Papa, and Mama
Favorite Book- Big Book
Things that I love about Eldon-
~You never know what you are going to get with Eldon. He keeps you guessing all the time. He is by far my craziest child but also my most loving child. He's the first one to run up and give you a hug but also the one who has the idea to color with Mama's lipstick.
~There is something about Eldon. Even though he's difficult (just because he's so curious and busy, nothing he does is spiteful or vindictive) there is something about him that everyone loves. Everyone loves and adores Eldon. For example our ward can't get enough of him. The girls in our neighborhood have to try to get him to hug and kiss them when they see him outside.

~Eldon is the best potty trainee ever! It didn't take us long to get him accident free, knock on wood.

~Eldon is my most apprehensive child. He is not the dare devil and he's shy. He has also become a very avid mama's boy. Which I don't understand but love . . .most of the time. I love how sometimes he'll randomly whimper and when I ask him what is wrong he says "Just want my Mama." and then gives me the biggest hug and then puts his hand on my check and says "Hi Mama." Such tender moments that I treasure!
~He loves to get his back scratched. If you scratch his back he'll sit with you for hours. But it's not necessarily his back its actually his side and stomach.

~Eldon has the most contagious laugh. If he is laughing hard you can't help but laugh with him.
~Eldon is a dancer- always has been and hopefully always will be. The boy can move his hips like no other.

~Eldon blames everything on Papa. Ever since Travis accidentally shut Eldon's finger in the van door Eldon's answer to anything is "Papa did it." Cracks me up!

~Not only does he have the crazy hair that sticks up all the time but he has the best facial expressions! It definitely is not hard to figure out what Eldon is feeling because he lets you know by his face!

~When he's mad at you he says "I not your son!" and walks away.

~You couldn't tell this by his small size but he is eating all the time. The boy can pack it away!
I remember when Eldon was born and I couldn't even imagine loving him as much as I did Kyler. Its amazing how your heart grows. I've really struggled in what to do with Eldon come September. I could put him into Preschool but a part of me still wants him to be my baby . . .though he's not! I guess I still feel so guilty that I had Isaac so close and didn't give him as much baby time as Kyler had. Eldon is my buddy and I don't know what I'd do without my little shadow.

Life According to Kyler

In an attempt to keep these days close to my heart, I thought I'd highlight each of my boys. This is mostly for my benefit but I do suggest you read them because I think my boys are amazingly awesome! I think that it is so true that there are moments in life that you just wish that you could capture forever. Little pictures of the day that a camera couldn't do it justice. These are some things that I hope that I can remember always. This is my Kyler.

Kyler Stats
Weight-40 lbs
Eye Color- Green
Hair- Brown and always has to be done like "Church Hair"
Answers He Said:
Favorite Color- Pink
Favorite Animal- Cougar
Favorite Number-12
Favorite Letter- K
Best Friend- Luke and Cole
Favorite Thing to Do- Play Doctors
Favorite Movie-Despicable Me, How to Train a Dragon
Favorite Thing to Eat-Pizza
Wants to Marry- Mama
Second Choice- Bella from Preschool

Kyler is great! He turns 5 in March! Isn't that nuts? I can't believe that time has passed that fast. Here are something things that I love about Kyler-
When he loves something I lot he says "I love this so much I could even die!"
He cries when he thinks about leaving the house. In fact he's told me that after he gets married he's still going to live with us!
He's a great big brother. He is always helping me grab things or babysitting the boys while I shower.
He is very empathetic- He is the first one to ask if you are ok.
He is so excited to get a little sister that he tells everyone he sees about it. "Mama is going to have my sister. Her name is Hannah." We've never told him that name or even discussed it!
He is very obedient. The other day Eldon and Kyler were asked to clean the play room. It took them a long time because mostly they just played. Finally it was late and we told them that they'd have to finish cleaning it up tomorrow first thing. As Travis left for work that morning he heard something downstairs. Kyler had woken up early and went downstairs to finish cleaning it up. Isn't that amazing?
He's very concerned about being funny. He wants to be funny all the time. So after he says something he'll ask "Was that funny Mom?" The other day I made a cake for a funeral and tried to explain to him what that was. The next thing I hear is "No Eldon that cake isn't for us. It's for Funeral. He died and now lives with Jesus." Cracked me up!

He memorizes great and has a great memory. It always catches me off guard when he says "Remember that one time when . . . " and it was two years ago . . . when he was three! He's memorized a bunch of nursery rhymes and poems. It doesn't take him long after he hears something to have it down! Because of that he's a smart little bugger!
When we say his favorite color is pink is it very true. In fact at the recent Primary Acitivity we made superheroes of themselves. Kyler's is easy to pick out because it is completely pink- outfit, cape, gloves, boots, everything! Not even the girls did that :)

Kyler's life is a musical. He is always singing. Making up songs about his life or his make believe world of superheroes.

He loves to dress up- Spiderman, Superheroes, Pirates, and even Princesses.
Everyone is his friend. He loves everyone and gets along in any situation.
I seriously don't know what I would do without him. He is wonderful! And I can't beleive that he goes to Kindergarten next year! It's a very bitter sweet situation. I know that he's ready, more then ready but having him leave doesn't make it easier! It's just hard to know that for the majority of every day he'll be in the world. I'm not sure I'm ready for that!

The Holidays

We have had a great couple of weeks! We hope you have too. Here are some highlights of what happened for us.
Days Leading up to Christmas:
Snow Flake Painting Gingerbread houses- yes I did cheat and use Graham Crackers
Swimming- Kyler was so excited he waited for our friends outside- note the goggles.
Seeing the beautiful landscape around us.
Christmas Eve:
Started out with sledding with our friends.
Finding Ice Javelins
Eating delicious Fondue!!!
of course playing the bells!
Getting our new P.J.s and yes Travis did buy me footies . . . pregnant lady and footies do not go hand in hand!!!!
Leaving the treats for Santa and Reindeer
Christmas Day
Was so exciting that this happened
Kyler weed wacking our carpet
Family coming to our house to spend the day and play games . . . notice how intense I am!
Day After Christmas
Travis enjoying the toys just as much as the boys areNew Years Eve and Day
We made it down to my parents house in time for dinner, games, and then the ball dropping. Of course not many of us made it to that point! Sorry for some reason I spaced putting the pictures on of us at midnight but the internet is taking so long I'm not going to find them to add them! But it was Dad, Trav, me, and Eldon up at midnight. Eldon loved banging the pots . . . poor Kyler lost the battle with sleep at 11:30!
The next day we went shopping, saw Tangled- loved with ever fiber of my being (just had to use that phrase but I really did love, love, love it!), ate good food and of course had Italian Sodas!!!
May 2011 bring us and you many more faces like this!!!!
