Playing Catch Up: Boston Trip

We had a trip within a trip so to speak. Trav had to go to Boston for a work trip and was able to take me with him! Not wanting to over load our Washington fam we took Maggie with us. She was a superstar!!! This was her first plane ride! But then again she had this to look forward too . . . a gigantic bed all too herself!
We spent most of the days in Travis convention but then spent the evenings sightseeing. The first night we spent just walking around and getting the lay of the land. We watched street performers and a band that was playing in the bay. It was so spectacular! Then night two we decided to take a late night trip to Harvard. We decided that the subway was the fastest and cheapest way to get around. This was Maggie's first Subway trip!
It was late and we were there with all the druggies on campus. But here we are in front of the John Harvard statue.

Day three we spent more time at the convention being very productive :)

The Convention was here:

When we were done we decided to take the rest of the day to do as much sightseeing that we could because we only had one day left. So of course we had to see CHEERS!! Then we did the Freedom Trail. Which was amazing. It took you through to all the major historical sights of the city.

Like the very first park in America.

The State House

A lot of amazing churches

Cemeteries were Paul Revere was buried, Sam Adams, and Benjamin Franklin's parents, and other sorts of people that were. . . dead. The place were the Declaration of Independence was read to the people for the first time.

Got our picture taken with Benjamin Franklin . . . and no I'm not pregnant I just look like I am.
Paul Revere's House

Taking a rest after Paul Revere's housePaul Revere's statue

Paul Revere Park . . . yes there is a lot of Paul Revere going on here. We thought that this was the walk way but two rounds later we found out it wasn't it was this spiral thing. Maggie and Trav decided to go to the top though.

After six hours of walking and seeing some amazing things we were tired and thought a swim in our Hotel's pool would be just the thing! This was Maggie's first time in a real pool!Day Four- we only had a few hours before we were going to fly out but we wanted to see the last few things that was on the Freedom Trail that we hadn't gotten to the day before. So we took the Subway again- because by this time we were masters at it!

Took a ferry

Yes this was Maggie's first Ferry trip!

Got to the USS Constitution museum and took a picture with a canon . . . Maggie's first picture with a canon in fact! It was also her first chance to try out a hammock like what was used for the crew in the shipWhen we got out of the Museum we saw that there was a huge line to get onto the ship. We didn't know if we had time but we thought we'd try. We got into the line and through security. As we walked out of the building it started pouring rain . . . everyone that was in line ahead of us ran back inside to the building and off the ship . . .Travis and I looked at each other and instead ran onto the boat. We didn't have to wait for a tour guide, didn't have to take the half hour tour, or anything. Instead as the crew ran around to get the boat covered we took ourselves on our own tour. The rain cleared up pretty quick and we stocked it up to a personal miracle! It also meant that we had time to see the last thing on the trail- Bunker Hill monument.

Travis took the time to run . . . yes run because we were out of time, up all the stairs and get a picture at the top.We got to the airport in time to have dinner and then load the plane. It was wonderful! It was such a fun trip to have with Travis. It was like having a four day date with a four month chaperone. It was so delightful to walk along holding hands in such an inspiring place. And I can't describe how happy we were to see and hug our boys again! It was so great to have them run to us! That night as we were putting them to bed Eldon gave me a hug and said "Mom, I'm never letting go of you again!" It was so sweet! So if you ever have the chance to go to Boston- take it (they didn't even pay me to say that) because it is truly amazing and a great chance to see how the Lord's hand is in all things.
